Halloween Spiders Web Earrings Step 1

Step 1

Cut approximately 90cm of fireline thread and thread it through the size 10 needle. If you have trouble threading it flatten the end of the thread between the nails of your finger and thumb.

Leave a 12cm tail and tie the tail and the working thread together to form a ring.

Step 2

Take the needle through the next bead in the ring.

Halloween Spiders Web Earrings Step 3

Step 3

Thread on 4 black size 11 delica beads and take the needle through the next bead on the ring to create a little 'branch' coming off the ring.

At this beginning stage you may need to adjust the beads in the branch slightly so that they lie correctly.

Step 4

Repeat 5 more times to create a total of 6 branches, one between each pair of beads on the ring.

Halloween Spiders Web Earrings Step 13

Step 13

To strengthen your beadwork, take your needle and thread around the outer edge of web making half-hitch knots at intervals as you go.

Pull firmly but also make sure you keep the beadwork flat by holding it between your thumb and forefinger while you work.

Trim this thread close to your beadwork.

Halloween Spiders Web Earrings Step 14

Step 14

Thread your needle onto the tail you left when you made the first ring. of 6 beads. You are going to use this thread to attach the spider.

Weave your needle up through the beads until you reach the position where you want to attach the spider. I usually place in on the line where I added the 6mm bugle beads.

Sew the spider securely onto the web, through the hole in its bottom, and then finish off this thread by weaving it back through the web, tying more half-hitch knots as you go. Trim this thread close to your beadwork.

(Please note, the spider is blue because the silver one didn't show up very well in the diagram, in real life it is silver-plated)

Halloween Spiders Web Earrings Step 15

Step 15

Open the loop sideways on your Ear Wires.

Thread it through the top of your web and close the loop.

Halloween Spiders Web Earrings Step 16

Step 16

Repeat to make the other earring.

Put your earrings on and go out and be very scary.
