How to Make a Bead Flower

Printer Friendly Version

Beaded flower example.

You will need for each flower:

  • 5 11mm oval fire-polished beads or 8mm teardrop shaped beads
  • 1 round bead for the centre of the flower. I use either a Czech Glass Pearl, a Fire-Polished Bead or a Swarovski Crystal.
  • 5 size 11 seed beads
  • 30cm of 0.3mm thick silver plated wire

If you are not sure what any of these items are please have a look through our jewellery making glossary.

Making a Bead Flower - Step 1.

Cut a piece of 0.3mm wire approximately 30cm long.

Thread on an oval bead and a seed bead. Leave a 10cm tail beneath the oval bead.

Making a Bead Flower - Step 2

Pass the wire back through the oval bead, missing out the seed bead.

Making a Bead Flower - Step 3

Thread on another oval bead and a seed bead and pass back through the oval bead again.

Repeat until you have 5 oval beads on the wire.

Try to keep the base of the oval beads as close together as possible.

Making a Bead Flower - Step 4

Twist the tails together to make the shape of the flower.

Making a Bead Flower - Step 5

Bring one end of the wire to the front of the flower and thread on your round bead.

Take the wire back through the oval beads on the opposite side of the flower.

Twist the tails together to secure.

Leave the tails on the back of the flower so that you can attach it where you need it.
